The nearest point to the lunar surface is anticipated at 7:02 PM, bringing the craft within 4,066 miles. NASA notes that from this vantage, the crew will witness the Moon's full sphere, including polar zones. Later, they will observe a solar eclipse "when Orion, the Moon, and the Sun align, causing our star to vanish behind the lunar disk for roughly an hour." NASA's broadcast of the flyby begins at 1 PM ET.
